Cyclones leave the bases loaded twice,
fail to capitalize
June 15, 2026 - Numbers don't lie.
That's what we've been told for as long as I can remember.
One number that did not lie on Sunday is 9. That's the total
number of runners left on base by the Cyclones. 6 alone with
the two times they left the bases loaded. It was a
tough afternoon for the Cyclones, falling 8-4 to their
rivals the Marauders. Of the 3 times they loaded the bases,
they cashed in 2 runs once and another time they scored a
run on a bases loaded walk keeping the bases loaded and
failing to score anymore in that sequence.
But as with most anything, they may be a
silver lining in it all. The Cyclones hit the ball hard on
Sunday despite the results. They hit into 2 double plays on
Sunday, one the traditional way and the other a liner caught
by the Marauders pitcher who turned around to double off a
Cyclone. Other potential hits were also turned into outs by
the opposition. It's the way baseball is. But in this
instance, it's a good sign the Cyclones may not be too far
from having a breakout game.
