Zephyrs Win NHWBL F2009 Championship

March 13, 2010 - The Zephyrs jumped to an early 4-0 lead in the second inning off of a Robbie Scott Grand Slam.  But the Cyclones came back in the top half of the third to take a 5-4 lead.  But the lead wouldn't last as Cyclones starter Stephen Landin couldn't hold on and the Zephyrs went ahead 6-5 and never looked back.  With a combination of relievers the Cyclones let the game get away from them and finished with a 16-6 loss.

Zephyrs Send Cyclones Spinning

March 8, 2010 - The final score was 18-3, but it wasn't even close after the 3rd inning.  Zephyrs starting pitcher Robbie Scott shut down the Cyclones for 6 innings and also was the offensive spark for his team.

Cyclones Are In The Championship!!!

February 28, 2010 - The Spring Cyclones have advanced to the NHWBL Championships for the second time in 4 seasons.  The Spring Cyclones today defeated the Zephyrs 5-2 led by the arms of Ryan Harris and Justin Keith.  With manager and starting pitcher Dean Cosme out with a prior commitment, Ryan was tabbed to take the mound.  Ryan pitched 3 innings and kept the game close.  He handed the ball over to Justin Keith who went on to finish the game.  Using his curveball to full effectiveness, Justin was able to keep the Zephyrs off balance and prevented the Zephyrs from putting together any sort of rally.

With the game all tied at 2 heading into the ninth inning, the Cyclones, led by Ryan Harris, plated 3 runs to take the lead and Justin continued his dominance over the Zephyrs to finish the game in the bottom of the ninth.

Cyclones Hold Down First Round Win

February 17, 2010 - The Spring Cyclones took an 8-0 lead into the 6th inning Wednesday night and nearly gave it away, but we re able to hang on and finish with an 8-5 victory over the Blue Beavers.  Big games from Ryan Harris, Justin Keith, Hector Landin and Mgr. Dean Cosme were key for the Cyclones as they had come into tonight's game reeling from 4 straight losses.  Offensively, the Cyclones jumped all over Beaver pitching and took a 5 run lead in the first inning.  Back to back triples set the stage for the first inning outburst and set the tone for the rest of the game.  By the fifth inning, the Cyclones were cruising with an 8-0 lead.

Mgr. Dean Cosme started on the mound for Spring and was quite effective for most of his six innings pitched.  He worked out of trouble in the first and second innings and was pitching a shutout into the sixth.  It was the sixth inning where it almost came undone for Cosme and the Cyclones.  After quickly getting the first out of the inning, between 5 hits and 3 errors, the Beavers made the strongest run of the night, plating 5 runners putting the Cyclones on their heals.

But the Cyclones turned to Justin Keith to finish off the game and that he did.  Allowing only 1 hit and not much of anything else, Keith closed out the night and handed the Cyclones their first round win.

Playoffs Begin Wednesday Feb 17.

February 16, 2010 - Spring Cyclones begin their quest for a championship this Wednesday night in Tomball.  Their first opponent the Blue Beavers have beaten them twice this season so far with the first game being close and the second game not so much.  Revenge time is now.
