Cosme Stifles Marauders, Earns Emotional Win

Oct 31, 2016 - Starting pitcher Mgr Dean Cosme was overwhelmed with emotion at the completion of Sunday's victory. Cosme who was pitching after learning of his uncle's death earlier in the week, threw a complete game allowing only 1 run over 9 innings leading the Spring Cyclones to a 7-1 victory over the Marauders Sunday afternoon. His only rough spot came in the 8th inning when Marauders loaded the bases but Cosme was able to induce 2 fly balls to get out of the inning with no damage done.

On the offensive side of the ball, the Cyclones were led by lead off batter Jorge Atencio's double and 2 RBI and Johnny Gonzalez' 2 run inside the park HR.

3rd Times A Charm, Cyclones Finally Beat Blaze

Oct 28, 2016 - The first the Cyclones met the Blaze was last season and the Cyclones gifted the Blaze their first win of the season.  In the rematch this season, the Cyclones coughed up a 4 run lead to end in a tie.

Now, in their third meeting, the Cyclones finally did what they should have done all along and that was control the game and walk away with a victory. The Cyclones in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th innings to keep control throughout the game and dictate the pace.

Cyclones starting pitcher Steve Tidwell went 3 innings, allowing 2 runs.  Mgr Dean Cosme came in and pitched 3 innings as well allowing 1 run giving way to Big Edward Hurta to close out the game.

Slugfest Ends W/ Cyclones Loss to Thunder 11-9

Oct 25, 2016 - After 1 inning it was 2-2.  After two innings it was 8-7.  Neither side seemed to want to let up.  The Thunder score another 2 in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th to take an 11-7 lead.  The Cyclones answered back though with 2 in the 5th to get back withing 2 runs.  But that's where the game would stay and end as the Cyclones 3 game win streak came to an end last night at Mason Park.

Perez' 9th Inning HR Lead Cyclones 8-7 over Marauders

Oct 20, 2016 - He pitched 7 solid innings allowing 4 runs (3 earned) on 10 hits but it was his bat that came though in the end to win it for the Cyclones.  Andy Perez smacked a 2-run 9th inning HR to give the Cyclones the lead and eventually the win over the Marauders on Wednesday night.

After tying the score at 4 in the 5th inning, the Cyclones went ahead 5-4 in the 6th on a triple by Alex Collazo.  Alex scored on the play as the right fielder for the Marauders threw away the relay throw.  With a lead in hand, Cyclones manager Dean Cosme lifted Perez in the 8th inning for the hard throwing hurler Ed Hurta.  After striking out the first batter he faced, Hurta gave up a double which eventually scored on a base hit.  After the hit, the Marauders sent up a pinch hitter that promptly drove a 2-run go-ahead HR to left field that was called fair by the home plate umpire, albeit not fair by much.

In the top of the 9th down by 2 runs, the Cyclones began their comeback.  After Collazo flied out to begin the inning, Hurta drove a line drive over the left field fence for a solo HR to bring the Cyclones within 1 run.  Gabe Medina looped a single to left for his second hit of the night, setting up Perez for the game winning HR.

Cyclones Demolish 45's 21-4

Oct 17, 2016 - It was a lazy Sunday afternoon when the Cyclones met up with the Houston Colt 45's in Spring.  But it would be anything but a lazy game.  Playing for the first time at O.R.W.A.L.L. Field in Spring, the Cyclones brought their A game vs. the 45's as the Cyclones pounded out 21 runs on 22 hits to defeat the 45's 21-4.

Ramirez' Walk-Off Sac Fly Lifts Cyclones 5-4

Sept 1, 2016 - It was a game of new beginnings for the Cyclones.  New Season.  New Players. New attitude.  It was one of those new players, Thomas Ramirez, who drove in the winning run last night on a walk-off sac fly in the bottom of the 7th to seal the victory for the Spring Cyclones.

After coming on in relief in the top of the 7th inning, Andy Perez was lifted for a pinch hitter in a 4-4 tie ballgame.  Mark McDowell, pinch hitting for Andy, drew a lead off walk (Oh! Those base on balls!!!).  Gabe Medina followed with what looked like a hit at first but was struck down by the Generals third baseman who attempted to make the play at 2nd and threw the ball wide and into right center field.  With men on 2nd and 3rd, the Generals intentionally walked newcomer Johnny Gonzalez to load the bases.  With the bases loaded and no one out, Thomas Ramirez lifted a 1-0 pitch to right field, deep enough to drive in McDowell from 3rd base and give the Cyclones a walk-off win in their season opener.

Earlier in the game, another newcomer, Ed Hurta, laced a triple into left center field to drive in the Cyclones first 2 runs and subsequently scored on an error by the Generals catcher attempting to throw out the Ross Courville who had just struck out but advanced to first when the Generals catcher dropped the third strike.  Hurta also took over on the mound in the 3rd inning for starter Steve Tidwell (another newcomer) who went 3 innings in his season debut.  Hurta tossed three plus innings and allowed 1 run before giving way to Andy, who shut the door down on the Generals.

Cyclones Look To Reload As New Season Looms

August 9, 2016 - The Spring 2016 Season came to a screeching halt on July 14th with a loss to the Panthers.  With that loss, Manager Dean Cosme looked towards the Fall Season as a time to reload the Cyclones and breath some fresh air into the team that has languished the past 2 seasons.  With as much trouble as the Cyclones had fielding a team during the Spring, the Fall seems to be looking up, as the roster has begun to fill out and up nicely.  With at least 7 newcomers, the new blood should bring new energy to the team and with that hopefully some W's
