TOUGH SEASON ENDS ON STRANGE NOTE
Aug 11, 2014 -
An extremely hard season came to an abrupt end on Sunday as the
Spring Cyclones defeated the Texas Sharks after the Sharks
withdrew from the game and accepted a forfeit loss. The Sharks,
as the Cyclones, were playing shorthanded and unlike the
Cyclones, were playing their second game of the day and third of
the weekend. The Sharks finally ran out of gas as a couple of
their players began to suffer cramps and a variety of other heat
related injuries.
As for the Cyclones, they began
the game with a 4 run first, before giving the lead right back
to the Sharks in the bottom of the first. The Sharks continued
to take advantage of a porous Cyclones defense and added 5 more
runs over the next 2 innings. The Cyclones added a run in the
top of the 4th to close within 4 runs, but as the inning came to
an end and the sides we changing, the Sharks withdrew leaving a
a stunned Cyclones team with a win for only the third time this
season.
